A charming compressed form Parian jug or pitcher

A charming Parian jug or pitcher of compressed globular form decorated in coloured enamels and gilding, unmarked.

Parian domestic wares were made throughout the 2^nd half of the C19, plain, tinted or decorated with coloured enamels and/or gilding. A selection of such wares is shown in a coloured photograph at the beginning of The Parian Phenomenon.

Condition: The gilding on the mouth and handle of the jug is rubbed. Otherwise the jug is in excellent condition.

Height: 15½ cm (6.1”).
