A Copeland Parian bust of Major General Henry Havelock, sculpted by Morrison.

Major General Henry Havelock (1795 –1857) originally intended to become a lawyer, but instead joined the army, rising to Major General and serving with distinction in India, Persia and Afghanistan.  He died in India in 1857 of dysentery.

This bust has the name on the front and “Copeland” at the rear. It is illustrated in the “Parian Phenomenon” page 187 fig 623 and in Robert Copeland’s book “Parian - Copeland’s Statuary Porcelain” page 211 fig B34 which dates the bust to 1858.

Condition: Very good. There are two short faint firing lines either side of the clothing and minor fritting to the bottom of the bust at the rear. There is a tiny chip at the back of the socle.
