A charming Minton Parian figure of Albert Edward, Prince of Wales as a child after the painting by Winterhalter in the Queen’s collection. This model was exhibited at the 1849 Birmingham Exhibition and at the Great Exhibition in 1851.  Ermine mark and various makers’ and model marks. This figure is illustrated on page 80 of The Parian Phenomenon, fig 121.  Height 34cm (13½“)

Albert Edward was the eldest son of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert and succeeded his mother in 1901 as King Edward VII of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and Emperor of India. Most Parian portraits of him are as a young man around the time of his engagement and marriage to Princess Alexandra of Denmark. 

Condition:  There is a loss to the ribbon on his hat but otherwise the figure is in excellent condition.
