This unmarked small Parian bust may depict the social reformer and nurse Florence Nightingale (1820 -1910). Nightingale is best known for her nursing practice in the Crimean War (1854 – 1856) and the subsequent establishment of formal training for nurses.
The bust is heavy for its size with a pronounced surface sheen.
