A good quality Parian guglet or handle-less jug by Copeland decorated with a trailing ivy and berry design in coloured enamels and gilding.
Parian domestic wares were made throughout the 2nd half of the C19, plain, tinted or decorated with coloured enamels and/or gilding. A selection of such wares is shown in a coloured photograph at the beginning of The Parian Phenomenon.
This guglet is marked Copeland, dating it to the third quarter of C19th.
Condition: The gilding on the mouth is rubbed. There is a shallow manufacturing indentation on one side which can be seen in the second photograph. Otherwise the jug is in excellent condition.
Height: 22cm (8.7”).
