A lovely Minton Parian figure of Comedy from the sculpture by John Bell.
Comedy smiles slightly as she relaxes on her tree stump, loosely holding some flowers.
Comedy was a companion figure to Tragedy, also by John Bell.
The piece has the Minton ermine mark and a year mark for 1859 and is illustrated in the Parian Phenomenon page 66, fig 86 (shape 201).
Height: 35cm. (13.8”)
Condition: This figure is in very good condition with some small losses to the flowers at the base and possibly to a leaf in her hand. There is some kiln dust from the manufacturing process below her left wrist and hand, only visible from below. Otherwise perfect.
