A Minton Parian figure of Clorinda by John Bell, sculpted in 1848. The pagan warrior Clorinda is shown dressed for battle, but wounded by her Christian lover Tancred, from the 16th century poem “Jerusalem Delivered” by Tasso. The original sculpture was exhibited at the Royal Academy, London in 1848 and the Parian version was first exhibited in 1851 at the Great Exhibition.
