A Worcester Parian bust of Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, c1864.
This striking bust of Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII, eldest son of Queen Victoria, showing the prince in a Roman-style toga, was issued as a pair with a bust of Princess Alexandra to mark their union.
This bust is unmarked but is made in the Worcester fashion of fixing the bust to the socle with slip. It is illustrated in the Parian Phenomenon on page 202, fig 663.
Height 33cm (13”)
Condition: Very good. There is some nibbling round the outer edge of the socle base, otherwise the condition is excellent.
