An attractive Parian table centrepiece with a pierced bowl and three charming putti, unmarked but possibly by Minton and dating from 1850s – 1860s.
There are three separate parts: the bowl, the central section and the stand. These are connected by a long brass nut and bolt. The three putti comprising the central section hold grapes, a bird and nest, and a sickle and sheaf of wheat. Their headdresses are of grapes, flowers and wheat.
Minton centrepieces in the same style are shown in the Art Journal illustrations in The Parian Phenomenon pages 14 -15.
Height: 40cm (15¾“)
Condition: Very good: The tip of the sickle is missing but there are no other apparent faults.
