A Copeland Parian bust of the Duke of Wellington, sculpted by the Comte d'Orsay in 1852. The bust is marked 'COMTE D'ORSAY Sc 1852' on the reverse, and is attached to a separate socle by a brass nut and washer.. This bust is illustrated in Robert Copeland's book on page 233. Height 28.5 cm (11.2"). This bust was produced in two sizes: this large size and a smaller size.
Condition. This bust is in very good condition. There is a faint firing hairline at the back of the figure, and one small and shallow chip to the top of the socle where it meets the figure. Please see photographs.
