Parian bust of Ariadne, possibly by Minton
A good quality Parian bust of Ariadne shown with ivy leaves entwined in her hair. The past is attached to a separate socle base by the original nut and bolt. This bust is unmarked but possibly is by Minton as a drawing of a similar bust from the Minton pattern books is shown in The Parian Phenomenon. Height 25.5 cm (10").
Ariadne was the daughter of Minos the king of Crete, and Pasiphae.
Condition. There are a few difficult-to-see firing flaws where the hair meets the neck and one small area of the hair to the right of the head which appears to have been repaired during manufacture. Please see the photographs.
