A finely-detailed bust of Princess May by Robinson and Leadbeater, dating from circa 1890. As is often the case with the Parian wares produced by Robinson and Leadbeater the detailing on this bust of fine quality, most notably in the hair in this case. Height 22.5cm (8.9").
Princess May was the pet name of Princess Victoria Mary of Teck, later Queen Mary, wife of King George V. This bust is likely to date from shortly before her marriage to The Duke of York in 1893.
Condition. This bust is in excellent undamaged condition. There is a short firing flaw at the point where her hair meets the back of her neck, visible in our photographs.
