A Minton Parian figure of Miranda, modelled seated on a rock with waves breaking at her feet and with a large seashell next to her.  This figure was shown by Minton at the great exhibition of 1851 and was modelled by John Bell. The base is marked 'MINTON' and with the pattern number 'X245' and the date code for 1867.  The side of the figure is marked 'BELLS MIRANDA'.  Height 39 cm (15.4")

 

Miranda was the daughter of Prospero in William Shakespeare's Tempest.

 

Condition. This figure is in excellent condition with no chips or restoration. There are two small firing flaws to the body: one inside the shell and the other just beneath the hairline. Please see our photographs.
