Worcester coloured Parian pair of figures

A pair of Worcester Parian figures 'Before the Wind' and 'Against the Wind' made with two colour parian body, with the clothes made in a pale green Parian to contrast with the rest of the figures. (Against the Wind is the figure hunching forward.)  Each figure is unmarked apart from an incised W under the base. The figure of Before the Wind was first made in around 1862 and the figure Against the Wind in around 1865, although it is noted that this was a popular pair of figures and was made over an extended period. Heights 29 cm (11.4") and 27.5 cm (10.8").

 

Condition. The figure Against the Wind is in excellent condition; the head of the figure of Before the Wind has been broken away cleanly and professionally reattached.
