A striking Worcester Parian bust of Professor John Wilson raised on a socle base, marked WH Kerr & Co and made around 1855, from the 1848 marble original by the Scottish sculptor James Fillans, now in the Paisley Museum.

John Wilson (1785-1854) was a Scottish philosopher, lawyer and writer. He wrote poetry, novels and essays and sketches, principally for the Tory monthly publication Blackwood's Magazine under the name Christopher North. In 1820 he was appointed Professor of Moral Philosophy at the University of Edinburgh.
