A good Parian bust of the Hop Queen by Copeland, from the sculpture by Joseph Durham, dated 1872. The young woman wears a crown of hop leaves and flowers, reminding us of the hop picking each summer in the fields of Kent, England for beer production. This bust is illustrated in The Parian Phenomenon page 181 fig 589 and in Robert Copeland’s book “Parian - Copeland’s Statuary Porcelain” page 228 fig B78. Separate socle.
