A small Parian figure of the infant Samuel

This lovely small figure of a praying child kneeling on a cushion is modelled on the painting of the infant Samuel by Joshua Reynolds (c. 1776) in the Tate. Samuel appears in the Old Testament Book of Samuel where he is called by the Lord as a prophet. The infant Samuel was modelled by a number of makers, including Minton.

Condition Excellent. There is some roughness to the inner edge of the base opening.
