A large Copeland Parian figure of Rebekah after an original by Theed. This lovely figure with fine detailing on the fingers and toes is marked Opus W Theed Sculp 1850. Copeland pub May 1 1851. The Parian statue is a copy of a marble exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1850 and the 1851 Great Exhibition.
According to the Old Testament account in Genesis, Rebekah or Rebecca was chosen as the wife of Isaac, the son of Abraham, after she drew water from the well for Abraham’s servant.

Excellent. Some slight roughness on the edge of the base
