A collection of Parian chess pieces by Minton. These pieces were originally sculpted by John Bell for Minton, and produced for the 1851 Great Exhibition. They were produced again later in the Nineteenth Century, and again in the mid Twentieth Century. They show children dressed in costumes depicting the various chess pieces. These Parian chess pieces are now difficult to find, and we are pleased to be able to offer this small collection.
In this selection, the white pieces are from 1851 or later C19th and the blue are probably late C19th, or C20th.
The pawns are all c. 6.2cm (2½) high
